Meet Danny - Trustworthy, fair and highly experienced technical chimney sweep

Meet the man behind Kent Chimney Sweeping!

Danny has been sweeping chimneys and repairing and fitting wood burning stoves for over 30 years.

When Danny first started chimney sweeping they were mostly open fires before wood burning stoves became popular.

Sweeping a chimney was done the old fashioned way back then with physical sweeping motions conducted with simple brushes and rods. Today, that has changed, Danny now uses the more effective 'Mechanical Method' which is far more versatile and consistent.

"I have used the Mechanical Method for many years now and find it so much more affective at removing very tarred chimneys and it is also more suitable for sweeping stoves or boilers which have small access points."

More from Danny...

A very large part of chimney sweeping is really knowing wood burning or multi fuel stoves and the many different manufacturers and models . Removing the baffle plates and stove bricks can be problematic without having the required experience .I’ve always prided myself on providing a complete chimney sweeping service from open fires to wood burning stoves, boilers and particularly inglenook chimneys.

I personally feel that as a chimney sweep you should be able to offer a complete chimney sweeping service.

We open two wood burning stove shops many years ago when stoves were just becoming popular. Back then you could count on one hand the different stove manufacturers ,were as today there are a vast amount of different manufacturers.

I have been asked so many questions over the years about problems people are experiencing with their open fire or stove, whether it be lack of draw or too much draw or maybe down draft . I like to think with my many years of experience Im able to help in solving any problems a customer maybe having so as they are able to obtain the best from their fire. Sometime just have the correct chimney cowl can make an immense difference or just razing the grate with in the fire place or even just not having a sufficient air supply in the room for the fire or stove to be able to burn to its optimum capacity.

Providing a totally clean service is an extremely important aspect in sweeping a customer’s flue as a customer rightfully aspects. There is never any excuse for leaving any mess of any degree in someone’s home.

I always carry vermiculite board to replace fire bricks and replacement stove sealing rope and can order any particular parts that may be needed. If any replacement parts are no longer available I am able to manufacture a new part in my workshop.

We had are wood burning stove shops for many years until we decided to close them as so many companies do due to the costs of running a small business. Now i simply have a workshop where I repair wood burning stoves and have my metal working and stove installation equipment.

I founded a trade association over 20 years ago called the ICS the institute of chimney sweeps. We had a large training premise which included many chimneys wood burning stoves and all the different chimney linings. The training centre was opened by kent fire brigade . We held a close relationship with the fire brigade in making the public aware of the dangers of chimney fires. I not only instructed people in the practice of chimney sweeping but also in the installation of chimney liners and the installation of wood burning stoves . I always keep in touch with our members to offer advice on any difficulties they maybe encountering .
